The Accounting Distance Learning Unit offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (previously Hons in Accounting) through distance learning. The Postgraduate Diploma is fully accredited by SAICA and enables students to proceed to QE exam. The Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting is made up of 4 modules; Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting & Finance, Taxation and Auditing.
Features of the programme include the following:
· A delivery system based on a once-off package containing study material for all four modules and a full set of text books. This means that right at the beginning of the year the students have everything they need. This is most important because of the short study period for this demanding programme.
· Work is broken up into a tightly-structured timetable with assignments to be completed week by week. This enables students to pace themselves and break up an intimidating workload
· Four two-day lecture sessions provide students with further guidance in their studies. These lectures provide an opportunity for students to obtain insights into problem areas and to engage with both lecturers and fellow students. These contact sessions serve to motivate students and give lecturers a better sense of where students are.
· Use of e-mail, sms and faxes will provide for increased contact with students between lecture sessions.
